About Rae

Rae Louise Stern, L.M.S.W., A.C.P., L.M.F.T. General Psychotherapy, Marriage and Family Therapy Bring me your questions and problems. I will help you find the answers and solutions.

I am originally from Highland Park, Illinois.  I graduated from Indiana University in 1978 with B.A.  After college I was a Human Resources Director for a large company in Houston, TX.  This experience allows me to assist people in the workplace.  I have helped many people strategize through politics, interpersonal issues and optimizing their positioning for promotions.   

I received my Master’s Degree from The University of Houston in 1983, Graduate School of Social Work.  My second year internship was in Baylor Medical Schools’ Department of Psychiatry in Houston.

I work with individuals, couples and families.  I treat people 18 to 70 years of age. I love what I do and enjoy seeing my clients meet their personal goals in treatment.  I watch people feel joy, happiness and fulfillment in their lives.

I have taken an active role in the Social Work community since even before receiving my Masters Degree. I have received several honors including:

• Appointed to the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Texas Special Interest Committee on Private Practice from 2001 to 2003
• Elected to NASW Delegate Assembly in 1993
• Elected as the graduate student representative from the University of Houston School of Social Work to the Houston unit of NASW from 1982 to 1983

I have been invited to present on many topics at many events. These include:

• Houston Fox News (Incest, Depression, Eating Disorders, Relationships between Mothers and Daughters…)
• Eating Disorders Conference ("Eating Disorders - A Multidisciplinary Approach to Assessment, Management and Recovery")

I was cited in Town and Country magazine as one of the country's leading experts in the treatment of Eating Disorders. The list was chosen by having other Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers complete a survey outlining who they would most feel comfortable referring their clients to.

I live in Houston with my husband and our two dogs. I am the proud mother of twin sons who are both in graduate school.
